James Duffy joined 17ROX in late 2019. He has lived in the Monadnock Region since 1995. He holds an MFA from Norwich University. His poetry has appeared in literary magazines and anthologies, including Ploughshares, Poet Showcase: An Anthology of New Hampshire Poets, and Under the Legislature of Stars: 62 New Hampshire Poets. He has been painting since 2012, inspired by the elusive and sometimes invisible intersections of land, ocean, and sky he found in outer Cape Cod, as well as the local landscape, especially wetlands and swamps. His paintings are abstract and intuitive, exploring the transformational properties of light, density, and the relationship between mark-making, memory and seeing.
